5/11 If I were leader of the free world, the first issue I would address would be solving the environment problems of the world. Why? Because our environment is dirty. This is important because we need clean places to live. We need clean businesses so we can earn money. If we do not clean the environment, we will be around a lot of germs. We can get infections and die. I will talk about two problems in the environment. First, I will talk about trash. Second, I will tell you about air pollution. We make a lot of trash in school. Trucks pick up the trash and bring it to the landfill. The landfill is a hole filled with a big bunch of trash. Soon, the trash increases and the hole becomes filled. Workers make sure that the landfill is covered with layers of rocks, soil and gravel so it won't poison our water. If they keep digging holes for landfills, what will we do, put trash under our houses? Some people think we should burn trash to make it disappear. If we burn trash, the air pollution will kill us if we breathe polluted air. That is not a solution. The air is already dirty from cars. This wastes all of our oxygen. I have a good idea. We need to recycle more because we must try to cut landfills and air pollution. Some people in U.S.A recycle nothing. If I were a leader of Philadelphia and if I see people throwing trash, I will give them a fine. We need to use glass and plastic over again so we don't waste money making new things we don't need. If we don't recycle, more things go to the trash. I would hire people to clean the whole earth to live in a better-looking world.
